Kenny Chesney To Make A Huge Impact In NY/NJ On His Tour Stop At New Meadowlands Stadium

When the sun goes down on New Meadowlands Stadium in New Jersey, Kenny Chesney takes the stage and will be making a huge impact in the NY/NJ area for country music!!!

The August 13th show has already topped last year’s concert at New Meadowlands Stadium by The Eagles, Dixie Chicks and Keith Urban in sales and is the single biggest ticketed country show in the NY/NJ area since Willie Nelson was joined by Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings and Linda Ronstadt at Giants Stadium in 1983.

"When I first heard we'd be playing at the Meadowlands, I was ecstatic," Chesney said. "It has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember and will be an unforgettable evening for everyone involved."

"I don't know if taking a chance is the right word, but to be honest with you it was a little bit of a risk to play Meadowlands Stadium," Chesney said.  (via Associate Press, click HERE for more) "But my whole touring life has been a risk. ... One day I said, 'You know, I want to be able to say I played the New York-New Jersey area and I did it in a football stadium.' We almost did it two years ago, and so now I felt like the time was right. I'm glad I was right."

Chesney, “the biggest ticket seller in country music and among the elite touring artists in the world” (Billboard) and “one of a handful of acts still capable of filling stadiums” (Wall Street Journal) will be performing in the NYC area for the first time since his 2009 performance at Jones Beach and the release of 2010’s ‘Hemingway’s Whiskey’ (BNA), which includes current hit “You and Tequila” featuring Grace Potter.

The August performance is part of Chesney's ‘Goin’ Coastal’ Tour, highlighted by The New York Times and USA Today atop their lists of the year’s biggest tours, and marks Chesney’s eighth consecutive tour selling more than a million tickets. Of a recent show, The St. Paul Pioneer Press wrote: "The Tennessee native delivered the same high-energy, fan-friendly show that made him the second-biggest selling live act of the past decade."

Billy Currington Is "Doin' Something Right" With His Performance On The "Goin' Coastal Tour"

Billy Currington is definitely doin' something right when he is onstage in front of tens of thousands of people as he opens up for Kenny Chesney on the "Goin' Coastal Tour".  Currington packs in the hits during his 60 minute set that has fans on their feet from right from the start.  Kicking things off with "That's How Country Boys Roll", Currington rolls hit after hit giving fans an entertaining performance from beginning to end.

Currrington is a laid-back kinda guy, but his performance is anything but.  He is energetic & exciting to watch as he works the entire stage, including the catwalks, and interacts with fans giving high-five's & handshake's all over the place.  Performing his hit singles, fans sang right along to hits such as "People Are Crazy", "Pretty Good At Drinking Beer", "Good Direction", and his newest single"Love Done Gone".  Fans were even treated to Hank Williams, Jr.'s well-known tune "Family Tradition" which of course was a crowd pleaser as was his strong ballad "Must Be Doin' Something Right".  Billy Currington put on a remarkable set that served as a fantastic prelude for the evening's main event.

If you haven't seen Billy Currington live in concert yet, be sure to add it to your list. To see if he is coming to an area near you, visit his official website www.BillyCurrington.com.

Eli Young Band Celebrates First Gold Single With "Crazy Girl"

Republic Nashville artist Eli Young Band’s “Crazy Girl” has been certified GOLD by the RIAA this week for sales of over 500,000 downloads.  By the time reports came in this morning, the band had sold nearly 600,000 downloads.  The lead single from their forthcoming album, LIFE AT BEST, was an obvious hit with fans right from the start.

The single made its debut at #1 on the iTunes Country Singles Chart with over 47,000 downloads the first week and has sold an average of 30,000 downloads a week, every week, for months on end.  The song has continuously outsold a large majority of the singles above it on the radio chart.

In the last two weeks the band has sold over 40,000 downloads a week, with numbers increasing every week.  With its debut as the most added single at Billboard, “Crazy Girl” is the fastest rising single of the bands career and is currently Top 20 and climbing.

When the band learned they had been certified GOLD drummer Chris Thompson said, “gold rocks!! You grow up hearing about artists going gold and dream of what it would be like.  Gold has always been such a measure of success.”  Lead singer Mike Eli added “it’s pretty cool that the single went gold before the record even came out.” Thompson continued, “this is a huge milestone for us.”

"This is an amazing accomplishment that sends one message loud and clear – Country music fans love the Eli Young Band and ‘Crazy Girl!’ Everyone at Republic Nashville could not be happier or more excited and we all look forward to the release of the debut album on August 16. Fans are going to love this album,” said Jimmy Harnen, Republic Nashville President.

Be sure to pick up a copy of LIFE AT BEST on August 16th.

Neil Perry Of The Band Perry Celebrates His 21st Birthday

Pictured here, TBP in a relaxed moment aboard their bus with their band, crew and songwriter Jeff Cohen.
With tons of accolades coming their way lately, The Band Perry celebrated a particularly special milestone this weekend - youngest brother Neil's 21st birthday!

With the family currently opening up Tim McGraw's Emotional Traffic Tour, it truly was a big and sweet celebration.

Big sister Kimberly created quite the cupcake display and visiting songwriter Jeff Cohen, who is writing with TBP in anticipation of their second album, contributed a box of cupcakes as well. Mr. McGraw himself even had a cake delivered to the young vocalist/mandolin player.

The greatest thrill came that night when, as he has done throughout the tour, Tim McGraw invited TBP out to duet on his song, "Can't Be Really Gone." While on stage, Neil was serenaded with "Happy Birthday" by the entire arena.

Of the day, Neil himself had this to say with a laugh, "I've never been 'forced' to eat so many cakes in a day. It was one to remember. And I'm legal!"

Happy Birthday Neil!!

Over 65,000 fans attended shows this weekend to see Rascal Flatts including 2 sold-out Flatts Fest dates in Cincinnati, Ohio and Indianapolis, Indiana.

Prior to the Flatts Fest show in Indianapolis at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater on Saturday, Rascal Flatts- Gary, Jay and Joe Don- stunned fans when they made an unannounced visit to the “Why Wait” wedding chapel and Flatts Fest Karaoke Challenge during a pre-show walk through the festival grounds.

The band surprised the wedding couple, Anthony Payne and Stephani Giveans, who renewed their vows at the “Why Wait” wedding chapel (sponsored by David’s Bridal), and stood by as witnesses to the ceremony. The wedding was officiated by WFMS radio dj Jim Denny, along with Deb Honeycutt as bridesmaid and Kevin Freeman as the ring bearer, who are also a part of the station’s morning show.

Eric Church To Release New Album 'CHIEF' Tomorrow & Will Celebrate With His Fans

The reigning ACM New Solo Vocalist of the Year, EMI Records Nashville’s Eric Church, will release his highly-anticipated third studio album, CHIEF, tomorrow, Tuesday, July 26, featuring the Top 15 critically-acclaimed hit “Homeboy.”

USA Today named “Homeboy” their Pick of the Week and Billboard raved “the singer/songwriter has never hidden his rock’n’roll sensibilities.  But there’s no doubt he’s country to the core…. [“Homeboy”] does a fine job of bridging the gap between twang and tilt.”

The single is not Church’s only material receiving praise.  Critics have responded enthusiastically to CHIEF in early reviews:

-    “ . . . one of Nashville’s sharpest young songwriters, and on CHIEF the rock guitars and twangy blues are set against big hooks and finely grained storytelling.”  - Rolling Stone

-    “ . . . one of Nashville's most detail-oriented songwriters…the honesty of his confessions can sear." – Entertainment Weekly
-    “ . . . this is one of the most enjoyable listens in country music this year." – American Songwriter
-    “Together with his producer, Jay Joyce, Eric has created the most lively, and arguably most adventurous, record to come out of Nashville this year. You can almost feel the crowd jostle and the beer spill onto your boots as the album unfolds…” – Country Weekly
-    “Every good artist reaches a watershed moment and Eric Church has arrived at his with ‘CHIEF.’” – The Boston Globe

-   “ . . . brimming with blow-ups, kiss-offs and a few salty tears between the sneers…Church knows how to tell a story.”  -- The Washington Post

-    “Hail to the ‘Chief’ of country music” – The Virginian-Pilot

For CHIEF, Church has once again teamed up with Producer Jay Joyce (Patty Griffin, Cage the Elephant, Emmylou Harris).  Joyce produced previous releases SINNERS LIKE ME (2006) and CAROLINA (2008) which have produced six Top 20 hits (“How ‘Bout You,” “Two Pink Lines,” and “Guys Like Me” from his 2006 critically-acclaimed debut; “Love Your Love The Most,” “Hell On The Heart,” and “Smoke A Little Smoke” from his RIAA Gold® Certified sophomore release CAROLINA).

Church will celebrate the release of CHIEF the way he celebrates all the important milestones of his career – with his fans.  A sold-out New York City crowd will be treated to an intimate performance on July 26 at Bowery Ballroom for “CHIEF: Deconstructed” where Church and many of the songwriters from the album will share the stories behind the songs they penned during Church’s month of seclusion in the North Carolina cabin.

CHIEF Track-by-Track:

1. Creepin’ (Eric Church / Marv Green)

2. Drink In My Hand (Eric Church, Michael P. Heeney, Luke Laird)

3. Keep On (Eric Church / Ryan Tyndell)

Alan Jackson's New Video "Long Way To Go"

Country music superstar Alan Jackson will premiere his video for “Long Way To Go” July 26 on GAC and July 27 on CMT.  Jackson will elaborate on the making of the video during his appearances on GAC’s Top 20 Country Countdown on July 29 and CMT’s Top 20 Countdown on August 5.  “Long Way To Go” is the first single from Jackson’s new studio album to be released this fall and the debut single from the joint venture between EMI Records Nashville and ACR (Alan’s Country Records).

The video, directed by Steven Goldmann, was shot at the Square Grouper bar in Jupiter, Florida.  It finds Jackson and his band waiting all day to shoot a video in the Florida sun because the forecast is filled with “rain, rain and more rain.” While Jackson, his band and the entire video crew wait for the rain to pass, the fun begins. Check it out at www.alanjackson.com.

“I guess I’m lucky – we get to shoot in some pretty cool places, whether it’s down on a beach or on a boat or a river or wherever,” Jackson says. “I’m good friends with the guy that owns the bar, so we thought we’d take the band and go down and shoot there.”

“I am completely blown away,” shares Chris after learning of the song’s chart topping status. “For
NEON to get such an amazing response from the fans and then for ‘Tomorrow’ to go to #1 right after, it feels like I’m living a dream!”

Former Cracker Barrel Old Country Store server Jason Michael Carroll brings his new CD Numbers to the table as the first artist ever signed by the company’s exclusive music program who once worked in one of its restaurants.  Carroll, who started singing in public while working as a server at the Cracker Barrel located in Henderson, N.C., has joined the ranks of the stars in the company’s exclusive music program.

The CD Numbers is a compilation of songs about everyday life experiences, including “Alyssa Lies,” which reached #5 on the Billboard Country Chart from Carroll’s 2007 album, and the title song “Numbers,” written by Patrick Davis and Rodney Clawson.  “Most numbers mean absolutely nothing,” says Carroll, “but some of them, like the date you meet the person you are going to spend the rest of your life with, mean everything.”  Cracker Barrel and Carroll collaborated with the Quarterback Records radio team, GrassRoots and country radio nationwide to debut the song as a single this past April.  The Numbers CD debuts today exclusively at all Cracker Barrel Old Country Store locations and online at crackerbarrel.com.

“Jason Michael Carroll’s Cracker Barrel experience has come full circle,” said Julie Craig, Marketing Manager for Cracker Barrel.  “Numbers is about the connection between being at certain places at certain times in your life, and our special connection with Jason was born the day he started working in our Henderson store.  He’s already made history within the Cracker Barrel family and we hope when people hear this CD, he’ll be on his way to making some music history as well.”

In addition to the 12 songs featured on the CD, fans will have an opportunity to see Jason Michael Carroll perform on the porches of some Cracker Barrel Old Country Store locations this summer.  Dates and times will be posted on crackerbarrel.com/music as soon as they are confirmed.

The appearance marked the singer-songwriter's first time to be interviewed on the popular program, but she's certainly no stranger to the countdown. Just last week, her video placed #1 for the second time since making its record-breaking debut on the countdown earlier this month. Margaret was surprised to learn she had once again scored the #1 spot, as she read the teleprompter introducing her video.

"Maybe Tonight" is the latest release form Margaret's current digital EP of the same name. Look for her full-length album to be released later this year.

James Otto's Fans Donated $4,000 To ND Tornado Victims During Live Streaming Benefit Concert

It’s no question James Otto’s Ottomaniacs are crazy about the country singer, but they also have a heart for helping those in need. On Thursday, July 7, James’ fans came together to raise $4,000 for flood victims in Minot, ND as a result of his live streaming benefit concert on StageIt.com. Total proceeds from tips and ticket sales totaled $2,000, and one anonymous fan generously matched that amount bringing the total donation to $4,000 for the local Red Cross in Minot, ND.

“I can’t even begin to express my gratitude to those of you who pitched in to help those in my home-state who are suffering such great losses because of the floods,” said James. “I love getting to play music for a living, but in the end, all it really comes down to is what we do for one another. Thanks to everyone who tuned in so that we could collectively make sure our friends in Minot are taken care of.”

The benefit was part of the series Otto began in early June called “Thirsty Thursdays” in which he performs live streaming shows via online broadcast from his home studio.

To register for the next show, visit www.StageIt.com, create your profile and then click on James’ artist page to purchase tickets for $5 each.

Luke Bryan Gives His Microphone Stand Away To A Fan During His Concert

You’ve seen artists toss guitar picks and towels and water bottles into the crowd. Luke Bryan gave away a microphone stand Wednesday night (July 20) in the middle of a one-hour show for the Samsung AT&T Summer Krush 2011 concert series.

Luke performed a high-energy, 12-song set at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville—and in all his running back and forth across the stage, he smashed into his mic stand a couple of times. So at show’s end, he picked up the stand and handed it to a fan and said, “You can have the piece of crap mic stand. Here, take it home with you.” The fan gave it back to the crew when Luke went to change for a few do-overs. But Luke got a Sharpie, autographed the mic stand and gave it back to the fan.

The other cool part of the night: Luke also did a mash-up of his breakout hit, “All My Friends Say,” and Metallica’s “Enter Sandman.” Luke hesitated just for a second, given the decades-long history of traditional country music played at the Opry. Then he muttered, “I’m sorry, Bill Monroe,” and plunged in, thrilling the 3,500-person crowd.

A snippet of the show will end up on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
