Jason Aldean Celebrates His Birthday Today & His Sixth #1 Hit Single

Jason Aldean is not only celebrating his Birthday today but also his sixth #1 hit single with "Don't You Wanna Stay".

Jason Aldean’s powerful duet with Kelly Clarkson “Don’t You Wanna Stay” reached the top spot on the Billboard Country Singles chart today becoming the ACM Entertainer of the Year nominee’s sixth career No. one.

The second release off his PLATINUM album MY KINDA PARTY also continues to hold strong in the No. one position on iTunes’ Top 10 Country Songs.

“It’s a pretty killer birthday present, that’s for sure! My family and friends are going to have to work VERY VERY hard to beat what country radio and the fans have already given me today,” laughed Aldean. “On a serious note, I am really proud of this song. Anybody who says they wouldn’t be nervous to try and go note for note with a vocalist like Kelly Clarkson is straight up lying to you! So, I do feel a huge sense of accomplishment to have pulled it off in the studio and on live tv with her, and then for everyone else to have responded to it the way they did...it’s just incredible, and you never take those things for granted.”

Aldean’s MY KINDA PARTY TOUR is sold out again this weekend in Charlottesville, Va., Lexington, Ky. and Toledo, Ohio. For more information and a full list of tour dates, visit www.JasonAldean.com.

Chris Young Performs 2 Shows Filled To Capacity In North Carolina

In between opening dates for Rascal Flatts’ Nothing Like This Tour, Chris Young recently entertained capacity crowds in North Carolina with headlining shows at Charlotte’s Coyote Joe’s and Winston-Salem’s Johnny & June’s Ultra Saloon.

More than 2,700 people packed Coyote Joe’s in Charlotte to catch the “Tomorrow” singer perform his string of recent #1 hits, including “Voices,” “The Man I Want To Be” and his GRAMMY® nominated tune, “Gettin’ You Home.”

“It’s been great watching Chris become one of the most popular country artists in Charlotte,” shares WSOC/Charlotte OM/PD DJ Stout. “His last three singles have been top testers at WSOC so it didn’t surprise me when he sold out Coyote Joe’s. He’s a great guy and a great artist who is on the verge of being a superstar.”

After performing to a capacity crowd at Winston-Salem’s Johnny & Junes Ultra Saloon, WPAW Assistant Program Director Clay JD Walker declares of Young, “You know an artist has ‘it’ when rabid fans hang outside a sold-out club in the cold to hear a muffled song through the club’s walls.

“Tomorrow,” is the lead single from Young’s upcoming third album NEON, set to release this summer.

James Wesley Proves The Show Must Go On

James Wesley had a show lined up this past Thursday, February 24 in Kansas City at Denim and Diamonds for KBEQ. On the way, a major snowstorm hit the city making the roads slick. The storm took Kansas City residents by surprise, but even as travel became impossible, James Wesley, determined to make the show on time, braved the dangerous weather.  The storm would eventually drop 10 inches of hard-packed snow over a 12-hour period.

KBEQ’s Music Director TJ McEntire, who scheduled the show and tried to brave the conditions but could not make it, was impressed with Wesley’s devotion saying, “What a crazy Thursday in Kansas City! Neither blizzard or sleet kept James Wesley from performing for brave Q fans at Denim and Diamonds in the middle of a dangerous storm!” McEntire continues, “He rocked it! What a trooper! He had so much fun he played twice! Thanks James Wesley! You are a true PRO!”

Many roads were closed on the way to the venue, because city snowplows could not keep up with the massive storm.  Even through detours and icy conditions, as Wesley approached the parking lot to Denim and Diamonds, he was welcomed by some of his die-hard fans waiting for his picture and autograph.

In spite of the weather, Wesley performed not one, but two sets to make up for those that showed up late due to the snowstorm.  Afterwards, Wesley helped push out a fan’s car that had driven over a snowed covered median in the parking lot.

Wesley explains, “I never want to disappoint fans especially knowing some traveled hours to come and see me play, even with the snow and ice! I will never forget this show.  What an experience!  I am glad nobody got hurt and we all had a great time!”

Wesley's current single, “Real,” has reached Top 25 on the radio charts and has climbed to the # 22 spot this week.

Kenny Chesney's 'Goin' Coastal Tour' Has Already Sold 500,000 Tickets

Kenny Chesney's massive 2011 Corona Presents Kenny Chesney's 'Goin' Coastal' tour, with sellouts in stadiums like Foxboro's Gillette Stadium and Philadelphia's Lincoln Financial Field, has already eclipsed 500,000 tickets sold. The only artist in any genre to sell 1 million tickets for eight consecutive summers, Chesney is well on his way to another million-ticket summer with only 27 of nearly 60 shows currently on sale. The tour kicks off in West Palm Beach on March 17, with the first of Chesney’s 11 stadium dates two days later at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay on March 19. Corona Presents Kenny Chesney's 'Goin' Coastal' tour wraps up at a two-night Gillette Stadium blowout August 27 and 28.

On the radio front, "Live A Little," a song about taking a moment to enjoy life and the third single off Chesney's latest number one album 'Hemingway's Whiskey' (BNA Records), is shooting up the Billboard Hot Country Song chart again this week. As Chesney says, "I think 'Live A Little' defines me a lot. Everybody that knows me knows I'm a very focused guy, I keep my eye on the ball, I work really hard, and I'm hands on a lot of times to a fault. But you do at some point have to set it down no matter what you do, and I'm still learning that even now."

"This song will be in our show forever, it's going to be a staple. I'm going to keep reminding people through music that you've got to love life, and you've got to live it, and you can't work all the time. And the tempo and the edginess of this song reflects our show to a tee."

Following hits "The Boys of Fall" and "Somewhere With You" from 'Hemingway's Whiskey,' both of which topped Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart, "Live A Little" has already climbed into the top 30 of the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart and is the most added song at country radio for the second straight week. Chesney's 64 weeks atop the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart is the most of any artist this millennium.

"Breaking The Myth: Waylon Jennings" Premieres February 26 On GAC

Breaking the Myth: Waylon Jennings, premiering Saturday February 26, 9:00 p.m./Eastern on GAC, chronicles the making of The Music Inside, the recently released tribute album dedicated to Waylon Jennings. The album and TV special celebrates Waylon's enduring musical and cultural legacy and chronicles his role in founding country music’s outlaw movement.

Album producer Witt Stewart first saw Jennings working as a DJ at a Lubbock, TX, radio station while on a school field trip.  Decades later he’d gain the support of Jennings’ widow and son, Jessi Colter and Shooter Jennings, to create what would be a 3-CD series in tribute to the original outlaw.  Viewers of Breaking the Myth: Waylon Jennings get special studio access to see artists including Kris Kristofferson, Hank Williams, Jr., Dierks Bentley, Alabama, John Hiatt, Jamey Johnson, Randy Houser, Pat Green, Patti Griffin and Sunny Sweeney working on their tracks for the project.  These same stars – several of whom knew him well – talk about Waylon the man and the influence he had on them musically while acknowledging the doors he broke down for artists who would come after him.  And Waylon the husband and father are lovingly remembered by Jessi and Shooter who share personal memories throughout the special.

Some of the classic Waylon songs lovingly remade include:

“Belle of the Ball” - Shooter Jennings
“New Wine” - Jessi Colter
“Love Is The Last Thing To Go” - Kris Kristofferson
“Lonesome, Ornery and Mean”- Dierks Bentley
“This Time” - Jamey Johnson
“I'm a Ramblin’ Man” - Randy Houser
“Are You Sure Hank Done It This A Way” - Alabama
“Rainy Day Woman” - Pat Green
“Just To Satisfy You” - John Hiatt
“Rose In Paradise” - Kris Kristofferson & Patti Griffin
“Dreaming My Dream” - Jewel

Breaking the Myth: Waylon Jennings will premiere Saturday, February 26 at 9:00 p.m./Eastern on GAC, with additional reairings initially scheduled for February 27 at 1:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m. and 7:00p.m./Eastern.

Carrie Underwood Presents Check For Over $140K To 'Save The Children Program' From Play On Tour

Today in Nashville, Carrie Underwood presented Mark Shriver, Senior Vice President of U.S. Programs for Save the Children, a check from proceeds collected through ticket sales from the 2010 fall leg of her “Play On Tour.” 36 cents from every ticket sold during the September to December 2010 run of shows has been donated to Save the Children’s U.S. Programs, a donation totaling $140,125.68.

This charitable initiative was inspired by the “36 cents” written in the lyrics of Underwood’s album track “Change” on her most recent album Play On, which addresses how even the smallest bit of spare change that one might have can add up to make a difference and help “change” the world.

For all things on Carrie Underwood, please visit her official website www.CarrieUnderwoodOfficial.com.
