Dierks Bentley & Miss Willie Brown Prank It Out

In a bold move, A&M/Octone Records’ new country duo Miss Willie Brown was the first to pull a prank on the JAGERMEISTER COUNTRY TOUR FEATURING DIERKS BENTLEY this past weekend.  The duo, comprised of Kasey Buckley and Amanda Watkins, gave Dierks' beloved CJ-7 Jeep a little makeover.   There are incoming but unconfirmed reports that a Bentley retaliation is expected and could possibly be devastating for the only two females on the tour.

“Before he gets us real bad, we thought we’d get one in and then go running for the hills,”
laughs Buckley.

“I think that the decision to be the first to prank the Bentley team is kind of winning.  We like to be number 1 and since we started it, no matter what, we win!” adds Watkins.

“The girls approached me to see if I wanted to start an alliance with them,”
said tourmate Josh Thompson.  “I told them ‘Hell, no!’  They are on their own for this one.”

Based on Dierks tweet last night, it looks like Dierks retaliated! @DierksBentley tweeted: so we stuffed 480 beers into every spot, zipper, and as seen here, toilet on @misswilliebrown bus. prank or gift?!

@MissWillieBrown replied to Dierks Prank with a tweet:  both....we keep tripping over beers everywhere but we're so drunk on beer that we can't feel it, thanks @DierksBentley xoxoxo

Country Newcomers The Lunabelles Find "A Place To Shine" In Nashville

“A Place To Shine” may have many different meanings, but for BNA Records newcomers The Lunabelles, it not only means the title of their shimmering debut single, but also Nashville, TN, and a career in country music built on years of dreams, preparation, and hard work, on stage and on the road.
The Lunabelles are an all-female band consisting of sisters Olivia (lead vocals and rhythm guitar), Dominique (piano, mandolin, vocals), and Gabby Arciero (drums, percussion, vocals) – and Alex Kline (lead guitar, banjitar, dobro, mandolin, peddle steel). “We grew up listening to country radio, so it’s a dream of ours to have a song going to country radio,” says Olivia. “‘A Place To Shine’ really says what we want to say as a band,” adds Dominique, “it’s such a positive message and we want people to feel that when they hear this song,” she continues.

The Arciero sisters grew up near Philadelphia, PA, playing weddings, school assemblies, open mic nights and staging musicals in their neighborhood. From there, the girls earned a spot on Kenny Rogers’ Christmas show where they performed for five years. The sisters moved to Nashville in 2009, and in 2010, they formed The Lunabelles with the addition of band member Alex Kline. Alex hails from Minneapolis, but moved to Marin County, CA, when she was 15. She attended Boston’s famed Berklee College of Music and fell in love with Nashville on spring break trip in 2006.

The heart of The Lunabelles’ sound is built around the core elements of tight harmonies, musicianship, and years of live performance experience, drawing on such influences as Diamond Rio, The Judds and Alison Krauss.

With “A Place To Shine” out now, the band is spending even more time on the road visiting country radio and performing live. When in Nashville, The Lunabelles are busy putting the final touches on their debut album which comes out later this year.

Country newcomer and Texas native Mark Cooke has just released his new single “I Love It” from his forthcoming self-titled debut album.  Written by Philip Douglas, Ron Harbin and Jimmy Yeary and produced by Nashville veterans J.Gary Smith and John Smith of CVR, “I Love It” is already garnering attention from country radio.  Listen to “I Love It” here.

“HOT, HOT, HOT.  A great summertime, driving-to-the-beach-with-your-favorite-girl song,” claims Jerry Proctor/WTYS.  “Mark hit it again with this one.  I LOVE IT."

"Mark Cooke is country personified!” says Kelly Green/WEIO. “We loved "Can't Cheat In A Small Town" and now he's back with ‘I Love It.’  He's got the look, the sound and WE LOVE IT!"

The Dirt Drifters Have "Something Better" To Give You For FREE

Last week Warner Bros. Records’ road-tested, club-polished new group The Dirt Drifters premiered their debut music video for their hot new single “Something Better” on As a token of their appreciation, the band is now offering their fans the chance to watch the video and get a FREE download of their song “Something Better” on their website –

Directed by Wes Edwards (Jason Aldean, Josh Thompson), the video was shot at two Nashville locations -- a lumberyard and the gritty music venue Springwater.

“Hats off to our director as the lumberyard reminded us of the one we used to work at,” shared The Dirt Drifters front man Matt Fleener. “It made the day that much more meaningful for us and we were really feelin' the ‘there’s got to be something better than 9 to 5 vibe!’”

Edwards shot the video entirely on GoPro HD Hero cameras, the type of cameras used at the X-Games to capture the thrill and momentum of the ride. The unique angles give the video an unexpected point-of-view perspective that is the first of its kind for a country video. Cameras were strapped to The Dirt Drifters heads, arms, guitars, drums and anywhere they would stay in place long enough to get the shot. Adding to the surprising footage, guitarist Jeff Middleton broke his arm during the filming right around 2:35 in the video.

Co-written by band members Nick Diamond, Matt Fleener, Ryan Fleener and Jeff Middleton, "Something Better," is the perfect distillation of their sound – loud, raucous, insightful and intelligent all at once. The song will be featured on their forthcoming debut album entitled This Is My Blood produced by Justin Niebank (Vince Gill, Brad Paisley, Keith Urban). The band is currently out on the road visiting radio and playing shows all across the country in support of their new single.

Rodney Atkins Among Star Studded Lineup Set To Honor Matthew & Daniel Hansen

From Bobby and Donnie Allison to Ward and Jeff Burton, NASCAR has featured its fair share of famous brothers.   However, this weekend at Richmond International Raceway, the names of two new siblings will be on the tip of every tongue in the NASCAR garage:  Matthew and Daniel Hanson, U.S. Marine twins and grand-prize winners of the Crown Royal “Your Name Here” contest.  The contest awarded them with naming rights to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race on Saturday, April 30, officially titled, “Crown Royal Presents The Matthew and Daniel Hansen 400.”

Traditionally, the race has donned only the name of the contest winner, but this year’s race will recognize Matthew, as well as his identical twin brother and fellow Marine, Daniel, who was killed in action on Feb. 14, 2009.  Matthew Hansen, a San Marcos, Calif. native, was unveiled as the grand-prize winner earlier this year during a ceremony led by country music star Rodney Atkins at Daytona International Speedway.  Atkins performed his hit song “These are My People” during an acoustic set and added the Hansen brothers’ names to the lyrics signifying their selection as winners.

"I have a feeling this weekend is going to be full of incredible moments," said Hansen.  "From experiencing the rush of the race to hanging out with stars like Matt Kenseth and Rodney Atkins, I'm really looking forward to getting to Richmond.  I wish Daniel could share this with me, but he will definitely be in my heart the entire time."

This year marked the second year that Crown Royal, a subsidiary of Diageo plc (NYSE:  DEO) focused the annual promotion solely on military service members to honor their heroic acts and service to their country.  Matthew’s nomination was submitted by his godmother and chronicled his steadfast service during three tours of duty in Iraq, despite losing his twin brother and best friend.

"This weekend we are proud to honor two American heroes in Matthew and Daniel Hansen," said Yvonne Briese, Crown Royal Brand Director.  "The kind of bravery and selflessness these men have displayed are the exact traits Crown Royal sought to highlight through the 'Your Name Here' program and we could not ask for two better service members to represent this program."

Matthew and Daniel joined the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) in 2002.  Matthew served in Operation Iraqi Freedom and now works at a military base in San Marcos due to injury.  He hopes to return overseas again on duty.  Daniel was selected to protect President George W. Bush at Camp David in 2004 and later Lieutenant General Richard C. Zilmer, USMC while in Iraq, before falling victim to a roadside bomb supporting combat operations in the Farah province of Afghanistan.  In honor of Matthew, Daniel and troops across the world, LtGen Richard Zilmer, USMC (Ret.) and Major General Ray Fox, USMC Commanding General of Training and Education Command in Quantico, Va., plan to attend this weekend’s race in Richmond.

Matthew Hansen will receive the royal treatment throughout the weekend courtesy of Crown Royal and Richmond International Raceway.  His name will be incorporated into the national race broadcast and has been included on all race tickets and event merchandise.  He will serve as Grand Marshal, including riding in pace-car laps, watching the race from the No. 17 pit box and delivering the trophy bearing his name to the race winner in Victory Lane.  Hansen will be joined by friends and family members throughout the race weekend.

“It is a privilege to host Matthew as he honors his brother at Richmond International Raceway on April 30,” said Richmond International Raceway president Doug Fritz. “We are thrilled to again team up with Crown Royal for the ‘Your Name Here’ program, recognizing members of our Armed Forces. The Crown Royal Presents the Matthew & Daniel Hansen 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race will be a momentous event at America’s Premier Short Track.”

Hansen will also spend time with Atkins, who will continue his partnership with Crown Royal with an hour-long concert prior to the race to salute those who proudly serve.  Ticketholders aged 21 and older will be able to view the concert on the frontstretch of America’s Premier Short Track.  The concert will also be streamed live on

"This weekend's show in Richmond is going to be a blast," said Atkins, who has one of the most added singles on country radio this week with "Take A Back Road."  "Not only do I get to perform for thousands of race fans, but I get to do so for a cause I really believe in - honoring American heroes like Matthew and Daniel Hansen."

Crown Royal, primary sponsor of Matt Kenseth and the No. 17 Ford Fusion, continues to use its NASCAR-related sponsorship to remind fans to “Please Drink Responsibly.”  In seven years as a sponsor of the sport, Crown Royal has provided thousands of adult consumers safe and free rides through its “Safe Rides Home” designated driver initiative and strives to continue educating people on the importance of drinking responsibly.

“Oklahoma defines who I am and seeing the effects this disaster has had on my neighbors, I knew I had to do something,” said Shelton. “Reba and I have a lot of love for this state and we wanted to do what we can to help. This place is my home and these people are family to us.”

Dierks Bentley Talks About His Upcoming Album

Dierks Bentley headed back into the studio earlier this year and over 30,000 of his closest fans watched Dierks & his band in the studio via a Live Web Cam that streamed 24-hours a day while they worked in the studio for five days on Bentley's 6th studio album.  Last month, Dierks released his new single "Am I The Only One" which will be on his forthcoming album due out later this year.

Dierks recently sat down with Billboard & talked about his upcoming album as well as his newly released single "Am I The Only One".  Of his new single, Dierks tells Billboard: "I wanted to have something out there for the summertime, and this just felt like the right song for that," says Bentley, who wrote 11 of the 15 tracks himself and expects to put 12 or 13 on the final album. "I've been off the radio for a while 'cause I wanted to make an album that was important to me, musically, but wasn't as commercial. But now I want to be back on (radio) and I wanted my fans to hear our stuff. I just wanted to come back with a song that was fun for fans and fun for country radio and fun for us to play every night...and ('Am I the Only One') fits in there."

Dierks goes on to tell Billboard that his new single is "not representative of the whole rest of the album," which he says covers a wide gamut of styles, subjects, feels and moods.  Sounds like we are going to have to wait & see what is in store for his next album.  Although, Dierks did mention to Billboard that he may release a 2nd single before his new album release.

Jennifer Nettles Goes Back To School To Support Music & Arts Education In Schools

Jennifer Nettles and members of the Attic Community Playground board recently visited the Museum School in Avondale Estates, GA, one of the first beneficiaries of ACP's mission to support arts education for kids.

They stopped by to deliver the money raised by Jennifer's solo benefit concert in Texas this January, and to observe first-hand the difference their fundraising efforts are having on the lives of some budding musicians.
Watch video of their trip here, and be ready to grin at Jennifer's rendition of "Little Green Frog." Meanwhile, if you're a believer that arts education matters, don't forget: Jennifer's ACP/CharityBuzz auction runs now through May 11. Bid on a chance to meet some of music's biggest stars, and support little stars like the children of the Museum School in the process!

Kenny Chesney To Release His Next Single "You And Tequila" With Grace Potter

With three diverse # 1 singles from his critically acclaimed Hemingway’s Whiskey, Kenny Chesney continues to showcase the album’s depth with the release of “You And Tequila,” which will ship to radio later this month. Written by Matraca Berg and Deana Carter, Chesney features singer-songwriter Grace Potter on the recording which the New York Times declares, “it’s one of the finest songs of Mr. Chesney’s career, a sudden bolt of darkness disrupting a blissful summer sky.”

Of the tune Chesney says, “I’ve always loved the song “You and Tequila.” I’ve had that song for years and lived with Matraca’s demo for a long time. After the tour in 2007, I rented a house in Malibu, California right on the cliff of the ocean and I would drive up the Pacific Coast Highway right at sunset. I remember I’d roll down the windows and I would just listen to music. I would listen to Tom Petty, The Eagles, I would listen to so many songs that would kind of fit that moment. It was therapeutic.”

“When we were putting together Hemingway’s Whiskey,” Chesney recalls, “somebody brought up ‘You And Tequila’ and when I listened to the demo again, it was just like I was driving up the Pacific Coast Highway at sunset with the window down and that’s why I recorded the song.”

“I was looking for somebody to record it with me and I thought of Grace Potter because I love her singing and love her records,” Chesney continues. “I didn’t know her, but I got in touch with her, played her the song and literally three days later she was in Nashville, and we cut it. Still, every time I hear the song, I go straight to driving up the PCH at sunset- got the windows down. I love that feeling.”

Chesney returned to Malibu last week to shoot the music video with Grace Potter. Shot in multiple locations, the video will be released next month. Chesney currently resides at #1  on the singles chart with his 22nd chart topping song, “Live A Little.”

Lee Brice Reacts To CMT Music Award Nomination

It was announced yesterday that Curb Records recording artist Lee Brice has been nominated for the 2011 CMT Music Awards’ USA Weekend Breakthrough Video of the Year.  The video for Brice’s hit single, “Love Like Crazy” has earned him the nomination.
“I’ve been watching CMT since we got it in my hometown so I was excited when I heard the news.  A video is so important to a song in terms of feeling.  I’m so glad that Eric Welch nailed the lyric content of the song but really knows artistically who I am as well,”
explains Brice, “The other nominees are not only talented artists but also my friends so it should be a lot of fun.”

“Love Like Crazy,” the first single from Brice’s 2010 debut album, reached the top 5 on the charts and has had record-breaking success.  It was named Billboard’s Most Played Song of 2010 and was nominated for both Single and Song of the Year at this year’s 46th Annual ACM Awards.

The 2011 CMT Music Awards will air live from Nashville on June 8th on CMT and

Thompson Square Takes Country Weekly Behind The Scenes Of New Video "I Got You"

RuckusFilm once again teams up with Stoney Creek Records to produce the music video for Thompson Square’s new single “I Got You.”  The video made its world premiere last weekend as part of the CMT Big New Music Weekend.  For an exclusive behind the scenes look, fans can pick up the May 2nd Issue of Country Weekly (on stands now) or visit

“When Keifer was writing the song, ‘I Got You,’ it reminded us of the Sonny & Cher’s ‘I Got You Babe,’ says Shawna Thompson. “We thought that if we ever got the chance to do a video on this song, it would be cool to do a sort of spoof on the whole variety-show thing.”

Keifer Thompson recalls, “We brought our video concept to Wes Edwards and he made sense of it all, plus he enhanced the idea a little further. I hope everyone will like it as much as we do!”

“I Got You” was written by Keifer Thompson, Shawna Thompson, Jason Sellers and Paul Jenkins. The song and album were produced by
NV. The new single has already shipped to radio and will go for adds on May 9th.
